The news in detail
Official statistics show record levels of access to financial services in Benin (89.8%) and Ghana (81%). Yet, behind the scenes, millions of accounts remain inactive because many women still rely on a third party’s phone to manage their money.
To explore this gray area of “Access by Invisible Proxy,” WE CAURI, in collaboration with Dr. Raphael Amponsah of Consolidated Bank Ghana, will speak at Financial Inclusion Week (FIW) 2026, organized by the Center for Financial Inclusion (CFI). Together, they will lead the session:
👉 “From Ungoverned Proxy Access to Genuine Agency: Building financial systems that work for everyone.”
The goal? To share our observations from the field and our reflections on behavioral financial literacy so that digital tools can become a means of security and true autonomy for every female user.
🗓️ Join the FIW community from October 5–8, 2026, to follow the discussions.
